Let It Ride (1989)

Plot: An average kind of guy who has a slight problem with gambling goes to the track, and mystically, it seems as though he can’t lose, no matter how he bets; and he has an incredible day.

Who else besides me thinks Denver trading for Brady Quinn is a great move?
Look. Denver wants a Q.B. with a strong enough arm to win Playoff games. They know that when Kyle Orton is up against equal or better talent he can’t do that. To keep Kyle Orton they have no choice but to give him a fairly big contract. Quinn is good for the next 3 years at a minimum salary. So they bring in Brady Quinn and they let him ride the bench for a season, that is enough time to let him get used to a new system and get his confidence back. After Kyle Orton completes his 1 year tender they can let him hit the open market and Brady can be given the keys to car. I think it is a great long term plan that takes into a account practical and financial issues. Do you think it is a plan of good foresight or a bad idea?
I think that he was on a TERRIBLE TEAM and nobody could have done any better than him or Derrick Anderson could. If you friggin (Tom Terrric) was a Cleavland Brown his career would have been in the crapper a LONG time ago.

neither team got anything so its pretty fair.

but do u honestly believe that he will turn into the real brady, TOM BRADY? he wont even be able to be a pro bowler with the chargers in ur division.. should of just kept cutler use would of probably been in the superbowl
YAA-YOO | Mar 14, 2010

I’m a Denver fan and i like the trade very much! He will have weapons to throw to and good RB behind him unlike in cleveland,Eddie Royal, Dez Bryant,Brandon Stokley and Marshall IF HE STAYS! Plus we got Green and Jamal Williams to plug up the D-Line.. Looks good to me!
Thutmose I | Mar 14, 2010

I think Quinn is perfect for Josh McD. He makes qbs good I mean lok at Brady and that loser cassel and that useless Excuse for a qb orton. Quinn has talent and potential just like Tom Brady did so I think it was a brilliant move. And this is coming from a chargers fan. I just hope u don’t start him yet because he is not ready. Give him the year to learn and then he’s going to be explosive
reybot | Mar 14, 2010

It was a good move for both Quinn and the Broncos. I don’t think Quinn would have ever been any good in Cleveland. He needs a strong team around him flourish in the NFL. He will have a much better unit to work with in Denver. The Broncos also needed someone to compete with Orton and push him. The chance of losing your job is a great motivator!!

Having said all that I don’t think Quinn will ever reach super-star status in the NFL!!
Nate | Mar 14, 2010

Denver got Quinn for nothing. I think the guy is good, the Browns organization was just awful at handling him. They didn’t let him throw down the feild at all, just let him throw short slants and screen throws.

I think Denver sits Orton. Orton is consistent with short throws, but he is not doing the job, very mediocre and he was the reason they had a huge dropoff at the end of the season last year.

McDaniels sees something in Quinn and is going to give him the nod.

Do you think last night's Raw was the best in the last year-plus? Why?
I have to qualify this by saying I was there in-person in Nashville last night, but I really think Raw was the best it’s been in more than a year last night.

Think about all the little turns:

* Edge goes face (or at least tweener) in the opening promo.

* Michaels "losing his game" and getting beaten (CLEANLY, might I add) by Orton. Who expected Orton to win without cheating or utilizing interference from Legacy, who were clearly eager to kiss up to him after failing him at the Rumble?

* DiBiase beating Mark Henry– again, CLEANLY, without cheating.

* Big Show getting DQ’ed even though he really looked like he didn’t mean to hit the ref. I expected him to lose, but I figured it would be because of getting himself willfully disqualified by ignoring the ref’s count or something like that.

All that, plus we got a night full of good, fairly lengthy matches with very little time dedicated to promos. First time in FOREVER I’ve been able to say that. The icing on the cake: Shatner was actually a great guest host! The "Raw Match Negotiator" and "Shatner Sings WWE Entrance Themes" segments made the whole arena rotfl.

So do you think this was the best Raw in the past year-plus? Why or why not? What are your own reasons?

Im a lifelong wrestling fan, ive been very critical of the WWE and of RAW over the past couple years and the direction they have taken the show, but even i have to admit that last nights raw was a step in the right direction. It was one of the better shows over the past year.

I understand they dont want to go back to the "Attitude Era", but last nights show was proof that they can put on a decent wrestling event without crossing the line of too much violence and sexuality. There is a middle line that can be met in staying away from the Disney Channel type storylines and not getting too violent or over the top. Last nights show was exactly that. They need to find that line and stick with it.

Yeah, last night’s Raw kicked butt. Definitely one of the better Raws in a long time. But, the Raw after a "Big Four" PPV is usually top-notch anyway, so I’m not holding out hope for next week.

Wilcox, who proceed to beat Bobby into confessing to the murder. At Harvard, Paul is attacking capital punishment in a campus debate, when Evangeline arrives and hands the letter to Paul. Paul goes home, where his wife Laurie is throwing a birthday party for their young daughter Katey. Laurie reads the letter and she encourages Paul to take the case, even though he hasn’t practiced law in 25 years. Paul, Laurie, and Katey head to Florida, where Paul meets Bobby in the prison. Bobby tells Paul his side of the story and what Tanny and Wilcox did. Paul begins to believe that Bobby was railroaded. Bobby tells Paul to speak to Blair Sullivan, a man who is also on death row. Why are todays movies so blurry?
I recently saw Mao’s last dancer and Percy jackson and lightning thief at the movies and I noticed here (as with many other recent films) that you can’t see the background properly cause it is all fuzzy. Films that came in the 90’s never had this problem. You could see everything clearly. So why can’t we now??

P.S. I know more hi-tech films like Avatar and Pixar films don’t have this problem. I am just referring to films in general.

It’s due to the camera man focusing his camera to make the main subject clear and thus the background will be out of focus as a result. What bothers me most is the fact that the music all to often drowns out the voices. Also when the camera is too close and you can’t tell what the H… is happening. This often happens during fight scenes or the light is so dark you can’t tell what’s happening, these films are even worst when seen on DVD etc.

Because the 35mm camera is not a clean and pure as a digital HD camera. Also the effects in the movies can hurt the look of some films. Hope that helps.

Surrounded by a band of misfit classmates – Walsh, who’s dying to move out of mother’s basement; Diego, a punching bag for his hen-pecker of a wife; and Eli, a shy guy just looking for female companionship – Roger’s confidence grows and he makes his way to the head of the class, even finding the courage to ask out his longtime crush, Amanda. But Roger quickly discovers that star students have a way of catapulting Dr. P’s competitive side into high gear. Soon enough, the teacher sets out to infiltrate and destroy Roger’s personal and professional life. Nothing is off limits for Dr. P, not even the object of Roger’s affection. There’s Cassius, who’s big and strong, but lacks the ‘goodness’ to make the job real. There’s Adrian, who while really hot (no pun intended) and smart, has no goodness at all. Then there’s Nicky [Sandler] who, while having good, lacks any evil whatsoever. As seen in the previews, he is told to release his evil. He needs to release it to save his dad. Cassius and Adrain leave Hell, thereby freezing the wall of fire that lets the damned souls into Hell. Since no souls can come in now, Satan starts to die. It’s up to Little Nicky to go and get his brothers, putting them into a flask and bringing them back to Hell at the exact same time to save Satan from decomposition. If Nicky ‘dies’ on Earth, he will be able to get through the frozen wall and back up to Earth. The catch is that he has only a week, and that Adrian and Cassius are MUCH more powerful than he is.

I am suffering from a severe inferiority complex (kind of?).. help!!?
So I am a sophomore in a decent private university with environmental science major, my grades are pretty good I got 3.8 GPA now. The thing is I HATE MY RACE/ETHNIC/HERITAGE/whatever it is. I am Indonesian of Chinese descent and I think I got the most despicable incompetent race in the universe. First of all I identify myself with Indonesia not China, cuz I don’t speak chinese at all.. but I look like your everyday chinese food waiter. To get a college in USA for us third world country citizens, you’ll need a fairly wealthy parents and almost all of my indonesian friends here are like extremely hedonistic and absolutely mental. The girls shop like mad and the guys drive expensive cars and wear expensive stuff also, I felt really disconnected with them; not that my parents were poor but Christ we came from a third world country and we didn’t act like one. To make things worse, ALL of them (not most, ALL) study business or finance – a very typical son of wealthy businessman study business stuff while I study science; o yea and should I say some of them fail miserably at school despise paying 50k per semester as international student tuition fee – I feel like so many people in my country have so much potential but no opportunity and they seem wasted it. Because everyone with decent money to get a decent school choose to study business and accounting and decide to rape the natural ecosystem in Indonesia, my country fail miserably at science. For country with 4th largest population on the planet, ZERO nobel laureate is terrible and as the people below the poverty line in my country get dumber and dumber and its natural resources only distributed among the wealthy few among my social circle (thats including me and my parents) muslim fundamentalist idea starts to creep in (as you know indonesia is the world’s most populous muslim country). O yea and their taste for music and movie are HORRIBLE.. I’m not into mainstream stuff and they freakin’ listened to Taylor Swift and Kanye West and watched Confession of a Shopaholic and Legend of Chun Li. Its not like I don’t have American friends like some of them sometimes come over and ask me for academic stuffs but since our background are so different I don’t feel as close to them as I would be to my fellow highschool friends. Am I worrying to much? Sometimes I do feel I am to arrogant but once you get a bias on someone you know nothing will ever be the same. And finally, ALL OF THAT country specific stuff contributes to the usual inferiority complex an asian guy suffer in the western world like we all dreamed of getting laid by Olga Kurylenko while the fact is the best an asian guy can do is nail Gong Li. Asian girls age TERRIBLY, at 19 they look 14 but at 35 they’ll look 45.

Get back up your tree and be quiet.
Sore-balls | Feb 09, 2010

That’s why I go to school online, because you can’t see the faces of others and therefore you cannot be biased, it’s a completely different community.
Just pretend and really try to think that everyone else is open and they accept you. Perhaps its not them being biased so much as it is your reaction to thinking they are biased? Try changing your behavior, and if it works than that will help, but if it doesn’t then sadly your right, and you can’t help it. But the most important thing to remember is you cannot change the behaviors of a larg group of people but you can change your to get their reactions to you to change!
matandmaegan | Feb 09, 2010

Awww man, take a chill pill. You sound like a cool dude. I think you’re going to do better things for Indonesia and the world than any of those other people. Everybody will think you’re much cooler than them. And, btw, Asian girls are very beautiful and age better than most ethnic groups.
Yeah Whatever | Feb 09, 2010

uh, you don’t have an inferiority complex, you have the opposite: a superiority complex. you think you’re better than everyone else and that no one and nothing is up to par with your standards of how things should be.

if you continue on this path, you’re going to become a grumpy negative person and no one is going to want to be around you…which will cause you to be even more grumpy. it’s a terribly vicious cycle but i guess i can only offer two pieces of advice for you that have helped me tremendously:

1.) remember that everyone is doing the best they can
2.) you can spend the rest of your life complaining and whining and then you’ll die. or you can try to enjoy the limited time you have here on earth and change what you can about the things you don’t like.

good luck!

Please Help! I am trying to find a movie made in the 80's (I think)…….?
about a young boy (probably in his late teens) that finds out his parents (and I can’t remember) died or left him and his family. He is then threatened by child protection services to have his younger brothers and sisters taken from each other and put into foster homes. In order for that not to happen he takes responsibility for his siblings and keeps tricking the agency to believe they have adult supervision all the while he takes care of all his brothers and sisters alone. There is one part I remember well…his little sister wants to go to a holloween party and he makes or buys her a costume and she goes to the party, thats all I remember, though. Please help if you can, I really want to watch this movie again…I haven’t seen it since I was little and it would really bring back good memories.
