IMDB rating: 6.70 Plot: GULLIVER and TATE – nickname ‘Treacle’ – are two ordinary 18 year-olds serving in the British Army in Iraq. Their platoon is struggling to maintain the uneasy peace of 2003. When their popular company captain, GODBER, is killed on patrol by a roadside bomb, morale in the platoon hits rock bottom. Acting on orders they round up several suspects from house-to-house searches. That night feelings at the camp are running high and as the chain of command is weakened and events spiral out of control. The lads end their tour of duty and return to England full of stories but also shaken by their experiences. Iraq comes back to haunt them when Gulliver’s jilted girlfriend, Shelley, decides to get her own back on him by giving photos of the events in Iraq to the British police. The story hits the press, and Gulliver and Treacle, now the most reviled men in Britain, face court martial. The army claims the two are ‘rotten apples’ acting alone. Guilt-ridden and abandoned, the pressure is too much for a traumatized Treacle. Gulliver, however, is determined to remain loyal to ‘his army’. Only when he is truly alone does he have to decide if he must keep his secrets or explosively have his day in court, and tell the truth about the events of that fateful night. |

Mormons – Is it okay that I assume you're racist? The book of Mormon is trashed with racism?
According to the Mormons belief, anyone with dark skin is a descendant of Cain therefore believed to be a creation of Satan. The Mormon Church follows a racist doctrine.
"And their curse was taken from them, and their skin became white like unto the Nephites." (3 Nephi 2:14-15)
"And the skins of the Lamanites were dark, according to the mark which was set upon their fathers, which was a curse upon them" (Alma 3:6)
"wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them." (2 Nephi 5:21)
ETC.
I question why anyone would follow a church founded by a prejudice man. White is actually the minority of the world because the rest of the world is brown skin.
Shame on the Church.
I have always been aware of the racism in the Mormon Church and wondered why any sane person would follow its doctrine.

The doctrine of the Mormon Church is a big reason why many Christians debate is Mormonism should be considered a denomination of Christianity.

Yeah, and what’s wrong with that? Other than the fact that you’ve been brainwashed by the Jew-owned liberal media into thinking blacks are our equals.

Yup. They hate Black People. We weren’t allowed into the church until like decades ago.
And believe me, the "racism" isn’t the only thing wrong with Mormonism.

The BOM is obviously racist, but Mormons are not. For some reason, they’re just not ready to renounce the BOM.
Liberal AssKicker | Oct 22, 2009
Anyone with a heart knows that racism is wrong, so it makes no sense why anyone would believe in Mormonism.
The Mormon Church apologized to the African-American community because black used to be forbidden to associated with the white Mormons.

yeah i would say that that would qualify as racism

No seriously. I once called the LDS missionary hotline and pretended to be a Ute who was thinking of converting but was concerned about those passages. I acted reasonable and absolutely sincere. I was immediately transferred to a manager and was pressured to see live missionaries. No answers.
19 And behold, the words of the Lord had been fulfilled unto my brethren, which he spake concerning them, that I should be their ruler and their teacher. Wherefore, I had been their ruler and their teacher, according to the commandments of the Lord, until the time they sought to take away my life.
20 Wherefore, the word of the Lord was fulfilled which he spake unto me, saying that: Inasmuch as they will anot hearken unto thy words they shall be cut off from the presence of the Lord. And behold, they were cut off from his presence.
21 And he had caused the acursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them.
22 And thus saith the Lord God: I will cause that they shall be loathsome unto thy people, save they shall repent of their iniquities.
23 And cursed shall be the seed of him that mixeth with their seed; for they shall be cursed even with the same cursing. And the Lord spake it, and it was done.
24 And because of their cursing which was upon them they did become an idle people, full of mischief and subtlety, and did seek in the wilderness for beasts of prey.

Far from racist.
Did you know that part of Joseph Smith’s 1844 presidential platform was a proposal for the government to sell public lands and then use that money to purchase and free slaves?

First off in the 1800’s it was widely believed that the curse of Cain was black skin, not just the Mormons. This was a way for the white man to justify owning slaves. If a black person was descended from a cursed man/race, and God meant for that race to be subservient to the white man, then who are they to challenge God? Ridiculous, I know, but the Mormons didn’t pull that one out of their hats.
Secondly, Mormons were harassed and kicked out of Missouri because of their stance on slavery. They were the only church, to my knowledge, at the time that did not segregate the congregation according to skin color.
The Prophets preached against slavery and its abomination. Slaves were set free, and in some instances they preferred to have the protection of their previous masters, so they traveled and lived as if they were slaves, but they were respected and treated for the children of God they were.
African Americans were never kept from becoming members because of the color of their skin. There was a long period of time from the early days until the seventies that they could not hold the priesthood (most people speculate it was because God was waiting for a whole generation of bigots to die off before the general public of the church would accept it.)
God has dealt with his true church the same way he has over the years. If his people were not ready for certain blessings or covenants, he waited (the Jews wandering for forty years.) At times he held the priesthood from otherwise worthy males (only those in the tribe of Levi could hold the priesthood.)
As for the Book of Mormon references to racism, I do not believe it was a way to cause people to be racist. It was a way for God to mark those who were unbelievers. God did it before, only with languages.
God deals with his church according to their capacity to accept and learn.

It’s a matter of using the term in conjunction with the time they are used. Look at the word ‘gay’. In the 1800s it meant being happy. Now what is that word associated with?
The same for the word ‘white’. Yes, in the 1800s it did mean the color white, but it also was used for being pure. Even today, in many instances, it can mean being pure.
The Book of Mormon contains many symbolic words. Within the color spectrum you can find these within the Book of Mormon:
White = purity, righteousness, exaltation
Black = evil, famine, darkness
Red = sins, bloodshed
Blue = heaven, godliness, remembering to keep God
